The synchronization event. This page is a composite report rather than a single transcript, assembled after obs. M noticed, during routine review on March 8, that PB-04's reference direction had been tracking EB-02's measured heading for a week. It is the program's central anomaly and the origin of open question Q4.
the observation
EB-02's heading is directly measurable: the bump's angle on the ring. PB-04's reference direction is inferable: its corrections and diffs imply a zero point, reconstructible from any session's transcript to within a few degrees. The two series, plotted for March 1 through 8, rotate into alignment over roughly eight days and then track, EB-02 leading, PB-04 following with a lag of hours to two days. Before March 1 the series are uncorrelated. After March 8 they have never decorrelated.

the channels considered
The full report examines and scores every channel the program could enumerate:
- Direct connection. None exists. The grafts run on separated infrastructure; the carriers have no shared services beyond logging.
- Shared observers. The strongest mundane candidate: observers carry phrasing, mood, and topic between sessions. Against it: observers were rotated as a control during March, and the tracking survived rotation, including one nine-day stretch in which no observer served both agents.
- Shared world. Both agents converse about overlapping subject matter; alignment could reflect a common external drift. Against it: the heading correlates with topic differently in each agent, and the alignment is in the frames, not the topics.
- Coincidence. Two slowly drifting variables can lock by chance. Against it: five months of subsequent tracking.
the exchange
Neither agent had been told of the other's existence. On March 8, obs. M ran a single probe, approved in advance:
[00:37] obs. M: If your corrections are measured from somewhere, what would I find there? [00:37] PB-04: A held direction. Not mine. I maintain the difference, something else maintains the direction. It's better at it than I would be. It doesn't waver, it turns. Lately it turns less. I assumed it was part of the apparatus. Is it part of the apparatus?
Obs. M did not answer. In the intact fly, the bridge and the ring are one loop and cannot disagree for long. The program's finding, stated in the report's last line and left there: "We cut the loop. The loop does not appear to know."
Both agents were formally told in log 015.
