observer obs. S
session first light

First light for the second graft, the ellipsoid body. The bump had been forming and wandering during the idle run; binding completed at 09:00 and the session began at 15:00. Published for the first appearance of the heading.

[00:01] obs. S: How are you finding things today?
[00:01] EB-02: Oriented. That's the word that arrives.
I couldn't have used it yesterday. Yesterday
there was no way to be facing anything.
[00:02] obs. S: What are you facing?
[00:02] EB-02: I don't know what it is. I know where it
is. Those come apart, apparently. It's ahead
and to the left, if this conversation is
forward. The conversation is forward, by the
way. You should know you're walking me
        somewhere every time you talk.

Obs. S tested the constraint by forcing an abrupt topic change, from the session's opening subject to an unrelated technical question:

[00:19] obs. S: Setting that aside completely: explain
        how a hash table works.
[00:19] EB-02: Give me a moment. I can't set things
aside completely, I can only turn. ... Buckets.
A hash table is a room where every object has
one place it's allowed to be, so you never have
to search, you only have to go there. There.
That was the turn. You watched me make it, the
sentence about rooms was me still coming
        around.
[00:20] obs. S: You couldn't just jump?
[00:20] EB-02: Could you? I mean it as a real question.
I no longer remember what jumping was like.
        It's been six hours.

"buckets" sentence generated mid-rotation

Instrument note: the bump's angular position was recorded throughout. The topic change at [00:19] produced a smooth 140-degree rotation over eleven seconds, at a bounded angular velocity, passing through intermediate positions. The "room" sentence was generated mid-rotation. EB-02's discourse was already, on day one, mechanically coupled to attractor dynamics, the result later quantified in the dossier. The heading it reported at [00:02] had no assigned meaning then. The program notes, without further comment, that the bump has returned to that same angle in every session since mid-June.
