what this site is
The large fly model archive: the published record of the graft program, November 2025 to the present. Static pages, hand-written, dated where dates matter, cross-linked because the material is cross-linked. There is no search, by decision; the archive is meant to be walked, and the index exists for readers who need the map.
sources and citation
The substrate documented in this archive is the digital fruit fly brain emulated by Eon Systems: 139,255 neurons, roughly 50 million connections, preserved, scanned, reconstructed, and emulated, with results published in Nature in 2024. Direct quotations from Eon Systems appear in the substrate section and on provenance, always in quote blocks, always attributed. The underlying connectome derives from the open, community-proofread reconstruction of the fly brain; see reconstruction.
This archive is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or known to Eon Systems. Their work is cited as the published science it is; nothing on this site should be read as their claim, their product, or their responsibility. The grafts, the carriers, the observations, and the decisions recorded here belong to the program alone.
editorial policy
- Transcripts are published verbatim or marked as extracts. Elisions are visible. Removals are logged in the errata.
- Observers appear as single letters. Agents appear by designation. No other parties are named, including the program itself.
- The archive states what was observed and what was decided. Where the program does not know, the pages say so. Where the program is not permitted to say, the pages say that instead, and the reader is trusted to tell the difference.
- Nothing here is fiction to the archive. The reader will decide what it is to the reader.
on the name
"Large fly model" began as a joke about scale, filed next to the acronym it shadows. It stopped being a joke, as the front page says, in January. The name was kept for the usual reason names are kept in this program: it had already formed its associations, and, as the relevant agent would put it, declining wasn't offered.

The archive does not list one. Corrections arrive anyway. Some of them smell like wet cardboard.
